D, F, A – the notes of the Dm chord

When looking at just 3 strings on the guitar it makes it way easier to visualize chords and where they are on the guitar fret board. Why make it hard on your brain? Sometimes learning chords on all 6 strings at once makes it way more difficult to memorize the chord shapes and positions. Triads – in other words basic chords, have only 3 notes. So you only need 3 strings to play the chord. Once you learn that, you can easily expand to the other strings, if you want.
