Here is an example of 2 chord progression apps that make music creation and song writing a breeze. Sort of like having a music professor in your back pocket. Fire up one of these apps. They give you the chords that are going to sound good together and simplify the song writing process. Make grooves, jam tracks and beats quickly.

Here we see the Chordbot app. It has this way cool Song-O-Matic feature. It will randomly generate a chord progression for you. There are 3 different levels to choose from. Generate one and it gives you some chords. Take listen. Like it great, not so much just click again. It will keep generating chord progressions endlessly. Sooner or later you will get a great one. You can always modify what you get also, or just enter in chords on your own. Take a listen, modify, repeat. The export the results to your favorite DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) for further production.

The Song-O-Matic has 3 categories.

  • Plain Pop – Very simple and familiar type chord progressions, used in many pop songs.
  • Justified Jazz – A bit more complicated chord progressions. 7th chords, 9th chords and more. Advance your musical knowledge here. Sound jazzier.
  • Schoenberg Surprise – Even more complex, more chords in the mix. Great for experimental music. Load one of these progressions up. Change around some of the chords. Great for learning about chord relationships.
