Use Shapes and Colors to Learn Every Major Chord – Everywhere

Shapes and colors make it easy to see the patterns on the guitar fretboard. The guitar is full of repeating patterns. Patterns that occur in multiple dimensions. Visualize every major chord, many places on the fretboard. Play it high, play it low, strum it mid-range. Arpeggiate in multi-dimensional style.

See, hear and feel every Major chord in every dimension.

Here, I show how to play every major chord all over the guitar neck. Vertically and horizontally.

You only need 3 strings to play any major chord. Check out how many places you can play the D major on the guitar, when you look at the strings in groups of 3. It’s like wow! I never knew you could play a major chord in so many ways. Once you learn a shape, it can be moved up and down the guitar neck to achieve – every chord. When you get D major located, move it 2 frets up the fretboard and you have E major. Move the shape up one more fret and now you have F major and so on up or down the neck. It just comes down to knowing your musical alphabet, A through G. Simple stuff.

The guitar is not so hard to learn after all. Today we will explore just a few.

I would love to hear your musical creations. Post a link to your music in the comments.

This image shows D major on the 4, 5, and 6th strings. Check out the video to see where D major can be played on the other groups of 3 strings on the guitar. I also who how these shapes can be moved around to play all major chords.

Thank you.
