A5 – Feel the Power, Beyond Power Chords

Power chords are easy to find on the circle of 5ths.
It’s like a magic cheat sheet.

Let’s choose the note A for our root.

Right next door is E, the Perfect 5th

So there we have the notes of our power chord; A and E.

You can do this to find any power chord. Pick a letter A-G. Find that letter on the circle of 5ths. Look at the letter right next to it (moving in the same direction as the hands on a clock). There you have it, the two notes of your power chord.

Power chords make an excellent starting point to any creative music project.

Paint with a variety of colorful musical tones over a power chord.

A Major
A Minor
A Mixolydian
A Lydian
A Phrygian
