\n   Franklin Academy’s fourth grade students will host writer in residence Tony Peacock for a three day workshop – Jan. 24-28. Peacock brings a genuine love of our state’s culture, literature and history into every classroom that he visits and he teaches students to appreciate their literary heritage and write their own stories. A national Hollerin’<\/i> champion in 1999 and 2006, Tony narrated an award winning documentary, Hollerin’<\/i> for Mulberry Street Pictures in 2000. He demonstrates his skill to those students who complete his writing residencies workshops.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n


\nThis program is supported by a grant from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County Inc. Additional support is provided by the NC Arts Council, a division of the Dept. of Cultural resources.<\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n

   This program is also supported by a grant from the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment (GJCAE) a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop, promote and coordinate the arts and cultural experiences for the community of Wake Forest as well as North Carolina.  GJCAE seeks to foster a sense of inclusiveness within our community, connect our communities and schools and to encourage participation in the arts by all members of the community.
