White Street Wake Forest, NC&nbsp;27587<\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><b>1<sup>st<\/sup> WAKE FOREST IRISHFEST WRITING COMPETITIONS<\/b><\/div>\n<div>On September 26<sup>th<\/sup>, 2009, the first annual Wake Forest IrishFest will be held at Festival Park, Wake Forest, NC. To help celebrate Wake Forest&rsquo;s national and international reputation for fostering the Arts, we are offering two writing competitions &ndash; a short story contest and a poetry contest.&nbsp;These competitions are in proud and loving memory of two young men who exhibited&nbsp;a passion for writing and for life.&nbsp;We are&nbsp;proud, in their honor, to add the following events to the inaugural Wake Forest IrishFest: <em>The Andrew Britton Short Story Competition &amp; The Graham Johnson Poetry Competition.<\/em><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><b><u>The Rules <\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">No entry form is needed. Entry is by post, or by email if required.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">You can make as many different entries as you like, <u>in either or both competitions<\/u>. $15 per story; $10 per poem.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">There is no restriction on theme or style, and all are welcome.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">Entries should be submitted on standard A4 paper, double spaced type, and with <u>no name<\/u> showing on script.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><u>Maximum 2,000 words<\/u> for the short stories; <u>maximum 50 lines<\/u> for the poems.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">The winning stories and poems must not have been published previously.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">The judges&#8217; verdict is final.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">No correspondence will be entered into once work has been submitted.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">Stories or poems cannot be altered or changed after they have been entered.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">Both competitions are open to writers of any nationality writing in English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">THE ANDREW BRITTON SHORT STORY COMPETITION<\/span><\/div>\n<div>The Short Story Competition is in honor of Andrew Britton.&nbsp;Andrew was extremely proud of his Irish heritage.
