Under the Wire!
Franklin Academy’s sixth grade students will be learning the unique craft of wire art from African Wire Artist, Jonathan Daniel. The students will participate in a three day workshop (Feb. 21-23/2011) with the motivational artist and complete their own artistic piece of wire art. Nicknamed “Wire Boy” in his home town of Zimbabwe, Daniel used his talent and resourcefulness to transform scraps of wire into toys of wonder.
This program is also supported by a grant from the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment (GJCAE) a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop, promote and coordinate the arts and cultural experiences for the community of Wake Forest as well as North Carolina. GJCAE seeks to foster a sense of inclusiveness within our community, connect our communities and schools and to encourage participation in the arts by all members of the community.
